Experience a Luxury Home Theater Design
Step into Our Showroom for an Elevated Cinema Experience
Luxury home theaters are big, complex projects. In many cases, we get involved in them before the home’s foundation is poured. Why? Because a home theater has specific requirements for space, ceiling heights, room shape, acoustic treatment, and much more. As such, it may be difficult for a homeowner to visualize what it will look like and how it feels. While we do very detailed home theater design and planning that includes elevations, how does someone experience the feel of a luxury cinema? That's why we built one from the ground up in our Denver showroom. If you are building your dream home in Steamboat Springs, you can experience the visuals, sound, and ambiance of a true home cinema right in our showroom. Explore the details of how this luxurious entertainment oasis was put together.

The Sound of Steinway
We knew we wanted to use Steinway Lyngdorf audio in our theater because we think it's the ultimate aural experience in home theater. Steinway Lyngdorf's approach to sound is holistically integrated. The loudspeakers are programmed into the processor, the digital amplifiers connect to the speakers, and the proprietary RoomPerfect™ room correction adapts the sound to the room. Unlike mix-and-match systems, Steinway Lyngdorf components and speakers are perfectly matched and designed to work together to deliver the best sound possible.
For our showroom theater, we employed some of the best Steinway Lyngdorf has to offer. The IW66 in-wall speakers for the front stage were paired with IW-26 speakers for surround sound and IC-26 speakers for overhead Dolby Atmos immersive sound effects. The similar speaker voicing and customized sound profiles from the processor and amplifier assure a home cinema sound experience like no other. Unlike other theater audio systems, Steinway Lyngdorf cinema speakers excel at music, so the home theater can double as a listening space.
Building the Theater
While a theater needs great visuals and sound, it's also aesthetics that help the audience suspend reality while immersed in the entertainment. We installed the speakers according to the seating capacity, positions, and desired performance. Next, we built out from the walls, installing acoustic treatment material to help absorb the sound and make the room neutral, a canvas for the complexity of today's movie soundtracks to work their magic. The walls are covered in acoustically transparent dark material for a luxurious look, complemented by the accent lighting. The high-brightness projector was placed, like in commercial movie theaters, in its own space behind the room rather than suspended from the ceiling. This ensures a cleaner aesthetic and keeps the projector hum out of the space. The equipment, like the surround processor and multiple digital amplifiers, is neatly housed in a rack in the projector room, which is well-ventilated to maintain the equipment's performance and longevity.
Lighting for Ambiance
Lighting is a critical aspect of creating the home theater experience. For our showroom, we decided to feature two popular opinions. The first is a "starry night" effect ceiling made from fiber optic cables. First, holes are drilled into the ceiling in a randomized pattern. Then, individual fiber optic cables are fed through each hole from the backside, with the tips poking through to the front. Finally, the bundled ends of the fiber optic cables are connected to a light source, illuminating the tips to create the twinkling star effect.
We also used LED lighting for impact and ambiance. The ceiling soffit was lined with LED linear lighting, creating an effect that sets the starry ceiling off from the room. The LED lighting was also used on the columns, giving the illusion of height to the room while also providing ambient light for navigation. As it's color-capable, the lighting can be changed with the push of a button, changing the mood instantly.
